Brenner Base Tunnel

First MAUDERLI UHFB chambers installed in Austria.

As a system supplier, MAUDERLI AG has impressed the tunnel builders at the Brenner Pass with its products. For the H53 construction lot, we are supplying custom-made shafts made of ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC), plastic shafts as well as pipes and fittings for the entire drainage line under the route. This construction project is the first time our UHPFRC shafts have been used in Austria.

In April 2024, the Brenner Base Tunnel company BBT SE awarded the contract for the “H53 Pfons-Brenner” construction lot to the consortium consisting of Porr Bau GmbH, Marti GmbH Austria and Marti Tunnel AG Switzerland.

Construction will take around six years. The world’s longest underground rail link for freight and passenger traffic is being built under the Brenner Pass. With a total length of 25.2 kilometers, the tunnel stretches between the municipal area of Pfons and the national border at the Brenner Pass. The Brenner Base Tunnel creates a future-oriented flat route through the Alps. The centerpiece of the new Brenner railroad between Munich and Verona will offer a significant improvement in travel and transport options in the heart of Europe.
