Pipes and shafts supplied for ARGE EHS.
The Schwamendingen enclosure is a major road traffic project in Zurich that was completed between 2019 and 2024. By covering the freeway over a length of 940 meters in the Zurich-Schwamendingen section, it was possible to relieve the neighbouring districts of traffic noise. An attractive green and open space for the local population is also being created on the roof of the enclosure.
MAUDERLI AG impressed ARGE EHS as a system supplier. We produced all the siphon shafts for the new section of highway from ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC) and also supplied the necessary manhole covers and manhole liners. The required sewer and cable protection pipes, fittings and electrical sockets also came from the portfolio of our family-run company in central Switzerland. The consortium is made up of the four partners Marti Bauunternehmung AG, Walo Bertschinger AG, Anliker AG and Implenia.
The realization of the enclosure posed particular challenges for everyone involved. The entire roofing was implemented in daylight construction, which required precise timing of production and delivery. The tight space conditions in the residential area in particular made the construction work extremely demanding. The Schwamendingen enclosure is primarily an environmentally friendly road project that was realized in cooperation between the Federal Roads Office, the canton and the city of Zurich.
